Minnesota safety grant program assistance
Hilmerson Safety Services is excited to introduce to you a program sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Labor that provides a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10,000.00 in grant money to assist employers in making their workplaces safer and healthier. The Safety Grants Program, established in 1993, has awarded over $800,000.00 to qualifying employers.
To qualify, an employer must meet the following conditions:
- have current workers’ compensation insurance have current workers’ compensation insurance (including the Assigned Risk Plan or approved self-insured employer);
- be an employer with at least one employee;
- have an on-site safety survey conducted by Minnesota OSHA or a qualified Safety professional (such as a Hilmerson Safety Services Safety Professional).
- The project must be consistent with the recommendations of the safety inspection and must reduce the risk of injury or illness to employees.
- The employer must have the working knowledge and experience to complete the project, and must be committed to the implementation.
- The employer must be able to match the grant money awarded and all estimated project costs must be covered.
- The employer must come under the jurisdiction of Minnesota OSHA
Grant monies may be used for:
- all or part of the cost of purchasing and/or installing recommended safety equipment;
- the cost of operating or maintaining such equipment;
- the cost of property, if the property is necessary to meet safety inspection recommendations;
- the cost of training tied to equipment; and
- tuition reimbursement.
Some of our customers have used the grant money for items such as personal protective equipment, trench boxes, guardrail systems, scaffolding, aerial and scissor lifts, ladders, machine guards, oxygen/acetylene storage carts, forklifts, air monitoring equipment, ventilation units, etc.
